The Clark County School District (CCSD) and the Clark County Educators Association (CCEA) signed a Memorandum of Understanding that will allow educators the ability to donate sick leave to other educators in the District.

Board of School Trustees President Lola Brooks reiterated the commitment of the entire Board for the safety and well-being of all CCSD employees. “This is the kind of collaboration and support our team members need in these times of uncertainty, and we are proud that we were able to work with CCEA to make this happen,” she added.

“This is an important measure agreed upon by CCEA and CCSD that is not currently covered in the approved bargaining agreement,” said Superintendent Dr. Jesus F. Jara. “This allows teachers and other licensed professionals to donate and utilize donated sick leave.”

“Our members have expressed the desire to support each other through these unprecedented times,” said CCEA President Vikki Courtney. “With this agreement, licensed professionals can donate their sick leave to others who may be facing health issues or caring for loved ones who may have fallen ill due to COVID-19.”

The process for leave donations is being finalized and will be shared with educators in the next few days.
