Nevada superintendents present student funding needs to legislators

Clark County School District (CCSD) Superintendent Dr. Jesus F. Jara presented iNVest 2023 to the Nevada Legislature on behalf of the Nevada Association of School Superintendents (NASS) as he currently serves as NASS president.

iNVest 2023 was produced by NASS and endorsed by the 17 school districts’ board of school trustees to serve as the blueprint of the needs of districts coupled with accountability for additional funding.

“Nevada’s superintendents are encouraged by the bipartisan support for increasing funding for Nevada’s schools,” CCSD Superintendent and NASS President Dr. Jesus F. Jara said. “As educational leaders, we look forward to working with lawmakers and the governor to ensure the increased funding provides districts the flexibility to invest in the unique needs of students from district to district, and holding each other accountable for the results.”

The iNVest 2023 needs highlighted during Superintendent Jara’s presentation include:

  • Fully funded Pupil-Centered Funding Plan (PCFP)
  • Modernize educational statutes to allow for innovation
  • Invest in school safety measures
