In today’s world, renewable energy is essential to building a sustainable future. Northeast Career and Technical Academy (NECTA)’s Energy Technology Program offers high school students hands-on learning in this vital field. Recently, students visited Southern Power in Boulder City to explore renewable energy technologies up close, gaining firsthand insight into how these systems work.
Unlike traditional classroom learning, NECTA’s program immerses students in real-world applications of solar, wind, and other renewable energy technologies. “We’re not just learning in a book; we’re actually doing all the things we’re learning about,” shared NECTA student Harlene Stewart. This approach bridges the gap between theory and practice, allowing students to deepen their understanding.
In addition to site visits, NECTA’s Energy Technology Program offers students career guidance, helping them explore potential paths in renewable energy fields like wind energy engineering. This structured support allows students to connect their hands-on experiences to real-world career options, making their learning journey both purposeful and impactful.
By combining practical experiences with academic learning, NECTA’s Energy Technology Program inspires the next generation of renewable energy experts, equipping them with skills to shape their futures and contribute to a more sustainable world.
