Billed as the largest student market in the United States, more than 50 schools featuring approximately 600 students sold their vegetables, fruits and crafts on Oct. 23.

The Giant Student Farmers Market – a partnership among Clark County School District (CCSD), Green our Plants and Clark County Commission Chairwoman Marilyn Kirkpatrick – was held at the Clark County Government Center Amphitheater.

Students grow and harvest their own produce, then sell it themselves at the market. In addition to learning about nutrition, students also learn about finances and business skills.

Green Our Planet estimates that the total dollar amount of produce and crafts sold that day was approximately $10,000 — with all proceeds going back to the schools.
