The Clark County School District is excited to share that Legacy High School educator James Smerek has been named a 2024 James Madison Memorial Fellowship recipient.
Smerek, who teaches World History, is one of 53 James Madison fellows selected this year. He competed with more than 400 applicants nationwide to earn the fellowship.
The fellowship covers up to $24,000 towards each recipient’s course of study on the way to a master’s degree. The program must include a concentration on the history and principles of the U.S. Constitution.
Applicants must teach U.S. History or civics at a secondary school to be considered.
