Hyde Park MS students travel to Washington D.C. for ‘Future City’ competition
Can you imagine a large city, such as Las Vegas, completely running on clean and renewable energy? A group of students from Hyde Park Middle School have stepped up to the challenge. The model created by Hyde Park students shows what a city would look like being 100 percent clean and sustainable.
For their efforts, the students were chosen as the regional winners of the DiscoverE Engineering Future City Competition. This year’s challenge asks students to build a 100 percent electrically powered city with energy generated from sources that keep citizens and the environment healthy and safe.
Future City is an award-winning STEM program that challenges students to think like engineers and brings them together as a team to come up with innovative solutions for a cleaner and healthier planet.
The Kota Murni team, which is made up of eight students will be representing the Clark County School District and Hyde Park Middle School for a second time in the Future City finals in Washington D.C. later this month.
We wish our students the best of luck!
