Credit-deficient high school students in the Clark County School District (CCSD) now have a transformative opportunity through Hope Vegas Acceleration Academies. Designed to support students attending CCSD academic centers such as Cowan, Peterson, and South, as well as Nevada Learning Academy and institutional schools like Spring Mountain Junior/Senior High School, this program offers a personalized pathway to earning a high school diploma.
Initially available to 50 students, Hope Vegas Acceleration Academies operates out of Morris Sunset East High School. According to Kevin McPartlin, Associate Superintendent of CCSD’s Education Services Division, the program focuses on students needing a second chance: “It’s a personalized, one-on-one type of environment that we can’t always offer at our schools.”
The program’s individualized approach includes dedicated academic coaches who provide social-emotional support to help students succeed. Kelli Campbell, CEO of Acceleration Academies, highlights the program’s mission: “There’s a reason why kids drop out of school, and it’s usually something out of their control.” The program also partners with The Harbor to offer comprehensive wraparound services, ensuring students receive the resources they need to thrive.
Tammy Martin, Director of Hope Vegas Acceleration Academies and a former CCSD principal, underscores the impact of education: “Education saves lives because the world can take everything from you, but it can never take your education.” Since partnering with CCSD in 2019, Acceleration Academies has expanded to four locations in Clark County, providing alternative education pathways for students under 21 to achieve their diplomas.
Hope Vegas Acceleration Academies represents more than just an educational program—it’s a lifeline for students striving for a better future.
