In a world often clouded by hardship, it’s uplifting to see initiatives that bring hope. In Boulder City, Nevada, a new Clark County School District (CCSD) school is set to open at St. Jude’s Ranch for Children. This groundbreaking school, opening in November, will serve as both an educational facility and a healing space for some of the most vulnerable children in Southern Nevada—survivors of human trafficking.

A Place of Healing and Hope

For nearly 60 years, St. Jude’s Ranch has supported children in need. Now, they’re taking their mission further with the opening of a school designed specifically for child victims of trafficking. The Healing Center, still under construction, will offer a safe space focused on “love, hope, and healing.”

Principal Amy Manning explains that part of healing involves reconnecting the mind and body, often disrupted by trauma. Programs like CrossFit and yoga will help students build physical and emotional strength.

A Compassionate, Non-Traditional School

This school stands out not only for its mission but for its staff—chosen for their compassion and personal connection to the cause. While many may not have direct experience with trafficking, they are driven by a deep desire to help these children heal.

The school’s motto, “Be the light,” emphasizes the goal of helping students find their own inner strength while also supporting each other. As Manning puts it, “We want to help them start to be their own light but also be the light for each other in their healing process.”

More than Just a School

Beyond academics, the school offers emotional support through features like Maggie, the therapy dog, who will provide comfort to students. The campus also includes a healing garden, complete with a heart sculpture created by a local artist, symbolizing love and care.

A Much-Needed Resource

Southern Nevada has long been a hub for child trafficking, yet resources for victims have been scarce. This school fills a critical gap, offering a place of healing and growth. As the video states, “We could create a place that doesn’t exist yet,” and that’s exactly what St. Jude’s Ranch has done.
