Generosity on display during the holidays

Throughout the year, Clark County School District’s (CCSD) community partners demonstrate incredible generosity to our students, educators, and the entire CCSD family.

During the holidays, these partners go above and beyond, especially helping those students in need. While the holidays are still in full swing, we would like to share with you but a sampling of the generosity we already have been blessed to receive.

December marked the start of the sixth annual Fill the Bus toy drive to help spread the joy of the holiday season.

Officers from the CCSD Police Department and the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department have been assisted by employees of Target, Walmart, the United Way of Southern Nevada, and 104.3 NOW FM as they collect toys from the public. The toys collected are distributed through local schools to households facing adversity.

Children in our schools often don’t have the basic necessities, and our partners give generously in helping them succeed. A special education teacher at Las Vegas High School, Chris Rocco, was honored for going above and beyond by Channel 13 as part of its annual 13 Days and Knights of Giving Campaign, whose sponsors include the Vegas Golden Knights Foundation, America First Credit Union and Subaru of Las Vegas.

Thanksgiving also saw generosity, too, including at William E. Orr Middle School, as donors and volunteers provided a free, catered Thanksgiving dinner for students and families on the evening of Nov. 21.
