Foothill HS Dance Team takes gold in UDA National Dance Competition
“Girls, you know you better watch out,” for the Foothill High School dance team who won a national dance competition for their performance set to music by Lauryn Hill.
On February 4th, the Varsity Dance Team made program history by taking first place in the Medium Varsity Hip Hop Division at the Universal Dance Association (UDA) National Dance Team Competition. The team has taken part in the competition since 2009 and has shown promise, receiving several medals and even placing in the Top 3 as a relatively new team.
Fast forward to 2024 and the UDA National Dance Team Competition in Orlando, Florida where they defeated the reigning national champions.
The Team danced to a compilation of Lauryn Hill songs and their performance allowed them to skip the semi-final competition and go straight to the finals.
All of the hard work and dedication they put into perfecting this routine won them the coveted gold medal.
“This means absolutely everything to us. We worked day in and day out to get here,” said Dance Captain Chloe Andrews.
