Veterans Tribute Career and Technical Academy (VTCTA) recently hosted an inspiring event, P.R.I.D.E. in Public Service Day, dedicated to connecting students with the agencies that keep our communities safe and thriving. True to the school’s motto, “Preparing Everyday Heroes,” the event welcomed representatives from over 60 agencies, spanning law enforcement, emergency medical services, and even military branches. This gathering gave students firsthand insights into the public service careers they aspire to pursue.
For students at VTCTA, the day provided more than information—it was a chance to interact with professionals, ask questions, and envision themselves in a future dedicated to public service. Sara Franco, a student attendee, expressed excitement about talking directly to FBI agents, EMTs, military personnel, and others. “You can just ask them questions about their experiences and see if it’s really what we want to do,” she shared, reflecting the genuine interest that many students have in making a difference.
Cayle Peru, another student, highlighted the broad exposure the event offered. “It’s crazy how many agencies came out to represent themselves, our school, and the community,” he noted, emphasizing the diverse options students were introduced to. From the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) to the United States Marine Corps, students had a range of mentors to guide them on potential career paths.
The P.R.I.D.E. in Public Service Day embodies VTCTA’s mission to shape future leaders in public service and beyond. Events like these, where students meet professionals and mentors, plant seeds that will grow into lifelong careers dedicated to serving the community.
