A kind, patient and caring teacher. Wonderful human. Math whisperer. CCSD hidden gem.

Those are just a few phrases used to describe Desert Oasis High School math teacher Jeff Comer in nominations submitted by colleagues for the Teacher Car Giveaway.

Comer was selected as the winner and surprised with a brand new Kia Seltos Thursday morning courtesy of Jim Marsh Kia and Silver State Schools Credit Union.

The nominators recognized Comer for his dedication and support of Desert Oasis students and highlighted his resilience despite personal tragedy.

In collaboration with the Silver State Schools Credit Union, school staff submitted nominations detailing how teachers engage students in the classroom and support students with extracurricular activities, but most importantly, how each teacher overcomes personal challenges and/or hardships to continue serving their students.
