Support students in need in time for the holidays

The Clark County School District (CCSD) is offering the community a way to meet the needs of students experiencing homelessness through Purposity.

By highlighting a student’s specific needs outside the classroom, Purposity is working to bring holiday cheer to more than 200 CCSD students. Due to the constraints of homelessness, many students receive only the basic necessities and oftentimes miss out on the joy of receiving gifts during the holidays.

CCSD currently serves approximately 10,000 students who are considered homeless under federal law.

“Purposity is about allowing families to get things that they normally do not have due to financial priorities,” said Meg Pike, Coordinator for CCSD Title I HOPE.

Many of the requests that have been submitted through Purposity have aided students in jumping the hurdles that homelessness often brings. There have been a range of requests from students including headphones to block out the noise from a noisy living situation, comic books for an avid reader and scooters that allow them to get to school on time.

Many students have already benefited from the generosity of Purposity users. Still, everyday needs are added to the app ranging from individual necessities to household items for a family in need. To support CCSD students experiencing homelessness, donors are encouraged to download the Purposity App or join online at purposity.com/organization/ClarkCountySchoolDistrict. The app shows users exactly what will be purchased if they donate.
