Students throughout the Clark County School District (CCSD) are celebrating Nevada Reading Week, Feb. 25 through March 1. With the theme of “Find your superpower – Read!,” parents, community members, Board of School Trustees members and others are visiting schools to engage students in fun reading activities and promote learning through literacy.

Nevada Reading Week is a statewide initiative that was started in 1987 by the Nevada Department of Education for Nevada teachers and librarians to celebrate reading through shared thematic activities. The special week usually begins in the last week of February and coincides with the birthday of beloved children’s book author Dr. Seuss.

Also on Feb. 28, Each One Read One featured author Jonathan Fenske gave a lively presentation to students at Simmons Elementary School in North Las Vegas. This year’s EORO selection is Fenske’s book, “Barnacle is Bored.”
