CCSD Superintendent Jara appointed to Nevada Children’s Commission

Clark County School District (CCSD) Superintendent Dr. Jesus F. Jara has been appointed to the Nevada Department of Health & Human Services Division of Child and Family Services Children’s Commission.

“Our most vulnerable children often face adult problems that can create more obstacles for them to succeed in school,” said CCSD Superintendent Dr. Jesus F. Jara. “I am honored to be appointed to the Children’s Commission that works to coordinate and share resources that benefit children most in need in the community.”

The Children’s Commission is designed to operate as an ‘umbrella’ organization which brings family serving entities together. The Commission membership includes governmental, private and philanthropic stakeholders. The Commission provides a coordinated approach for sharing resources and expertise while at the same time seeking to identify and fill gaps in services that may exist in the community. The population which the Commission serves is the most vulnerable in the community.

“Schools play a pivotal part in serving the children of our state both as an educational foundation and  often as the one consistent contact for the child,” said Children’s Commission Co-Chair Justice Nancy Saitta. “It goes without saying that education is a powerful tool for our kids. The input that Superintendent Jara can provide will be an essential element of the Commission’s work.”
