More than 500 CCSD students had the opportunity to see the science behind the Formula 1 Las Vegas Grand Prix on Wednesday.
As race teams were putting the finishing touches on the cars for the November 23rd race, students from 12 CCSD middle schools got a look at the operations and technology as part of Las Vegas Grand Prix, Inc.’s inaugural Community Day.
Attendees took part in hands-on activities such as interacting with a race car built by UNLV Rebel Racing and driving remote-controlled robots from FIRST Nevada, showcasing unique ways they can remain involved in STEM as they move into high school and beyond.
In addition to seeing the science that keeps the cars on the track, the students had the opportunity to meet and speak with seven-time Formula 1 champion Lewis Hamilton about his career.
