Clark High School senior is one of only 161 students awarded nationally
LAS VEGAS – Clark County School District (CCSD) student Samuel Chen of Ed W. Clark High School has been named a 2024 U.S. Presidential Scholar.
Chen is one of two Nevada students awarded this year. A total of 161 students were selected as 2024 Presidential Scholars.
He was selected as part of the 60th class of Presidential Scholars for his academic success; excellence in the arts, career, and technical education; and commitment to community service.
“It is a phenomenal accomplishment for one of our students to be recognized nationally as a U.S. Presidential Scholar, and we proudly celebrate this achievement,” said Interim Superintendent Dr. Brenda Larsen-Mitchell. “This honor is a testament to Mr. Chen’s hard work and determination, and we congratulate him on this award.”
According to the U.S. Department of Education, 3.7 million students are expected to graduate high school this year, but only approximately 5,700 students qualified for this distinction. Of those 5,700 students, only 161 students were selected as 2024 Presidential Scholars.
The White House will recognize the Presidential Scholars Class of 2024 for their outstanding achievement this summer.
