CCSD Parent and Employee surveys highlight instructional model preference

The Clark County School District (CCSD) recently completed parent and employee surveys in preparation for the March 1, 2021, return to a hybrid instructional model for Pre-Kindergarten to Grade 3 students.

The results of the employee survey show 59.7 percent of staff members prefer to come back and work in the school buildings. 40.3 percent of employees indicated that they prefer not to work in the buildings.

“Our students only have one shot at education and face-to-face instruction is crucial in providing our students with a bit of normalcy as we continue to provide them with a high-level of education,” said CCSD Superintendent Dr. Jesus F. Jara. “The District also understands that not all parents are ready to have their children return to school buildings, so we are proud to provide choice for our families with a full-time distance education model.”

Results for the Pre-Kindergarten to Grade 3 students Hybrid Parent Preference Questionnaire mirror the employee survey. 56.4 percent of parents of Pre-Kindergarten to Grade 3 students indicated that they prefer to send their children to school for face-to-face instruction under the hybrid model. 43.6 percent of parents indicated they will remain in full-time distance education. Nearly three-quarters of Pre-Kindergarten to Grade 3 parents completed the survey.

As the March 1st return approaches, elementary schools will be communicating specific plans for the return to the hybrid instructional model with their parents and employees in addition to the instructional model of full-time distance education.

Throughout the second semester, the District will work to transition additional grade levels to the hybrid instructional model; however, there is currently no timeline for this transition.
