CCSD is seeing promising signs of recovery through investments supported by $777 million in funding from the American Rescue Plan Elementary and Secondary School Emergency Relief Act (ARP ESSER III).

Why it matters: These investments, according to a report presented to the School Board in December, have led to positive progress in academic outcomes.

Key takeaways from the report:

  • Immediate interventions and long-term investments supported upward trends in English language arts (ELA) in elementary and high schools and positive progress in mathematics for all student groups in Grades 3-8.
  • $245 million was invested in initiatives related to teachers, principals, and staff, as well as a priority focus on recruitment and retention in the short and long term.
  • There were slightly positive trends in chronic absenteeism rates, and students reporting positive relationships at school were impacted by immediate interventions related to student wellness, mental health, and safety.
  • Parent and community voices have been critical in developing the CCSD ARP ESSER III spending plan and continue through implementation.

By the numbers: 84 percent of the funds received by CCSD have been used or committed.

Go deeper: The District’s progress and strategies for supporting students’ recovery are outlined in a 38-page report. Watch this short film and hear firsthand from educators on the positive, bold impact the ESSER funding is having on our schools.

  • CCSD will continue to invest in initiatives, professional learning, and wraparound services to ensure students’ success.
