Clark County School District (CCSD), working with community partners, has launched a one-stop shop website to provide information to educators, students, and parents about apprenticeship programs in Southern Nevada.
Apprenticeship.ccsd.net provides information for students to explore many of the apprenticeship programs offered in the skilled trades, medical field and cybersecurity/information technology field.
One of CCSD’s many ambitious goals in its five-year strategic plan, Focus: 2024, is to ensure that every student who graduates is college and career ready. CCSD is strengthening its partnerships with higher education institutions and business leaders to focus on apprenticeships and career and technical education programs that align with community job needs.
In announcing the new website on the first day of school at Southeast Career and Technical Academy, Superintendent Dr. Jesus F. Jara noted the importance of making it easier for students to find high-paying careers straight out of high school with the help of apprenticeship programs and private construction companies willing to work with and train our students.
To help further this goal, CCSD’s collaboration with skilled trade unions, Workforce Connections and other community advocates on the new apprenticeship website should enable students to learn more about the trades so they can better understand what it is like to work in each particular occupation.
The website will be updated regularly to include more career exploration options to make it easier to align career options with many of the career and technical courses offered at CCSD schools.
