For the second consecutive year, CCSD’s graduation has increased: The Class of 2023’s graduation rate was 81.5 percent compared to 81.3 percent last year.
Why it matters: Student performance improves when systems of instruction align to research-based curriculum and support.
- “With a focus on our students, our educators, administrators, and staff all contribute to improving results. I am proud of the performance reflected in these numbers,” says CCSD Superintendent Dr. Jesus F. Jara.
By the numbers: The District saw year-over-year rate increases for historically underserved students, including among the Black/African American, Students Eligible for Special Education, and English Language Learner student groups.
- Career and Technical Education (CTE) students demonstrated a graduation rate of 96.46 percent.
Noteworthy: CCSD graduated more students with a college and career readiness diploma from the prior year, indicating an increase in students leaving prepared with the highest honored diploma.
- There were 5,960 CCSD students who graduated with a College and Career Readiness Diploma in 2023, which is up from 4,194 graduates with the same diploma in the Class of 2019.
Twenty-one high schools posted a graduation rate over 95 percent. Seven schools achieved a 100 percent graduation rate: Advanced Technologies Academy, Burk Horizon Southwest, College of Southern Nevada East, College of Southern Nevada South, College of Southern Nevada West, East Career and Technical Academy, and Mission High School.
- Mission High School experienced the greatest year-over-year improvement from 61.11 percent to 100 percent, representing a percentage point increase of 38.89.
