CCSD employees to receive first installment of retention bonuses

On June 9, 2022, the Clark County School District (CCSD) Board of School Trustees approved memoranda of agreement with its employee bargaining units that included retention bonuses for employees.

“Throughout the pandemic, the employees of the Clark County School District employees never waivered in their commitment to our students, and we honor them for their dedication,” CCSD Board of School Trustees President Irene A. Cepeda said. “Ensuring our employees get the pay and benefits they deserve and are rewarded for continuing with us ultimately benefits our students. This board will continue working to provide for educators’ needs because of their critical role in our children’s lives.”

“I am incredibly appreciative of our hard-working 40,000 CCSD employees. The pandemic was unprecedented and impacted each of us like never before. Still, we worked together to provide for our number one priority–our students,” CCSD Superintendent Dr. Jesus F. Jara said. “We still have much to do to recover the lost learning our students experienced, and this is one small way to show our thanks for your dedication to our students.”

The agreements provide for specific bonuses to most regular CCSD employees who are employed on September 1, 2022 and May 22, 2023. Substitutes, temporary workers, and any part-time (not regular) employees will not receive retention bonuses.

As part of the agreement with ESEA, POA, and PAA,  the District agreed to increased health care benefit contributions in place of larger retention bonuses.

Additionally, licensed employees who received salary modifications as a result of the increase to the starting salary will receive a prorated retention bonus reflecting the difference between the salary increase and the bonus of $5,000.

Please note that all amounts mentioned above are all pre-tax amounts.

CCSD has allocated $167 million of funding to cover the retention bonuses and the starting salary increase. The employee bonuses will be paid with ESSER Funds.
