The Nevada Department of Education (NDE) and Governor Joe Lombardo announced the selection of Edrecka Wolridge, a Campus Security Monitor at Fertitta Middle School, as a nominee for the Recognizing Inspiring School Employees (RISE) award.
Ms. Wolridge was one of two Nevada school district employees chosen by the Governor to represent the state based on their dedication to students and school communities. She is currently a student teacher earning her teaching certificate through the Paraprofessionals Pathway Program, an alternate licensure option supported by ESSER funding.
“We are so thankful to have Ms. Wolridge as part of our Firebird family,” said Fertitta Middle School Principal Greg Siqueiros. “Her passion to educate and guide our students to success is evident in how she engages with students and families. Not only does Ms. Wolridge support our students on campus, but she focuses on supporting them at their community events as well. Her commitment and dedication develops these students into great leaders. We are so proud of her and this well-deserved national recognition.”
She also serves her community as the school’s head boys’ basketball coach and runs several camps or sports programs in the city. Ms. Wolridge is known by her school community for her involvement and constant presence at any school event or activity.
The National RISE award winner will be announced by the U.S. Department of Education in Spring 2024.
Nominees are selected by the essential services offered to their school community and the vital role they play in providing for the welfare, safety and success of students.
