Ali Jun of Tyrone Thompson Elementary School has been named 2026 Nevada State Teacher of the Year by the Nevada Department of Education. Jun is a long-time Clark County School District (CCSD) educator who has taught music at several CCSD schools during her career.

Jun was surprised with the award on Wednesday, September 3, during a celebration event at Tyrone Thompson Elementary School. CCSD Board of School Trustees Linda P. Cavazos and Lisa Satory, as well as Superintendent Jhone Ebert, Governor Joe Lombardo and Nevada Superintendent of Public Instruction Steve Canavero were all on hand to recognize her.

Jun was also the recipient of the 2021 Milken Educator Award for Nevada.

She was chosen as State Teacher of the Year from a group of nominated individuals who are then invited to apply. After a rigorous application and interview process, five finalists were chosen, and all identifying information was removed from their applications before being sent to State Superintendent Canavero for final selection.

Jun will now represent Nevada in the National Teacher of the Year program.

CCSD congratulates Ali Jun for receiving this remarkable award!
