CCSD dedicates new portable for Indian Education Opportunities Program

On Nov. 20, the Clark County School District (CCSD) Indian Education Opportunities Program (IEOP) and the Clark County Indian Education Committee held a dedication ceremony for a new IEOP portable, located at 4204 Channel 10 Drive. The dedication was held as CCSD honored Native American Heritage Month.

The IEOP portable will be used to provide tutoring opportunities, adult education classes and other services to support the CCSD Native American/Alaska Native students’ educational success. This is an exciting opportunity for the IEOP program to provide more educational resources to CCSD families.

“We hope that this space gives them a common place to meet and a place to gather and learn about their culture, language and academics,” said Petra Wilson, CCSD’s Indian Education Parent Committee chairwoman, in a Las Vegas Sun story about the portable’s dedication.

The Indian Education Opportunities Program is a CCSD department that ensures a comprehensive approach to meeting the unique needs of American Indian and Alaska Native students along with providing services and support to schools, departments and divisions, as well as the community.
