The Clark County School District’s (CCSD) bus safety team recognized a group of elementary students as “star” bus riders. The students received a brief review of the safest way to get on and off the bus before being awarded certificates and goodie bags for their efforts.
CCSD reminds the community to practice safe driving in and around school zones with the following school bus safety tips:
- Keep a safe distance when driving behind a school bus and when the school bus comes to a stop.
- Drivers are required to stop for school buses when students are boarding or departing.
- Drivers are required to stop when a school bus is displaying its flashing red lights and the school bus stop arms are engaged.
- On divided highways with a median or other physical barrier, traffic moving in the opposite direction does not have to stop. On all other roads, traffic in both directions must stop.
