Agenda Item 5.01 – Review of American Indian/Alaska Native Policies and Procedures.

The Clark County School District (CCSD) Board of School Trustees received a presentation on the American Indian/Alaska Native Policies and Procedures.

It is the intent of CCSD that all Indian children of school age have equal access to all programs, services and activities offered within the school district. To this end, CCSD will consult with local tribal officials and parents/guardians of Indian children in the planning and development of Indian Policies and Procedures (IPPs), general education programs, and activities.

Trustees recognized all involved in contributing to this and other related activities and programs.

Agenda Item 6.01 – Superintendent Communication.

Chief Financial Officer Jason Goudie provided information in response to a request by the Board of School Trustees during the Nov. 12, 2020, Regular Meeting. CCSD anticipates that the potential continuation of full-time distance education through the remainder of the 2020-2021 school year may lead to a reduction of certain District positions directly related to the lack of a physical presence of students in school buildings.

Nearly 1,400 custodial, bus driver, and school police positions are among those that would potentially be included in a workforce reduction if the District does not transition to face-to-face instruction. The specific responsibilities of these impacted positions are directly related to the physical presence of students and staff in school buildings. Additionally, the District will continue to evaluate all positions within the District and make additional reduction recommendations if appropriate. While the impact of these potential reductions is considered, the District will continue to balance its commitment to fiscal responsibility, operational efficiency, and quality instruction.
