Agenda Item 4.01 – Focus: 2024 Strategic Plan Update: Chronic Absenteeism

The Clark County School District (CCSD) Board of School Trustees received a report on the Focus: 2024 Strategic Plan Update in regards to chronic absenteeism.

Chronic absenteeism is a school quality measure on the Nevada School Performance Framework that captures the total percentage of students who are absent for ten percent or more of their enrolled days.

To combat chronic absenteeism, the District is working to:

  • Identify root causes for missed school situations

  • Use outside partners to assist with chronic absenteeism efforts

  • Increase connectedness on campuses

Agenda Item 4.02 – Focus: 2024 Strategic Plan Update: Student Safety

Trustees received a report on the perception of the district as it relates to student safety.

In this year’s District-wide survey taken by students earlier this school year, students responded to questions that included:

  • I sometimes stay home because I don’t feel safe at this school

  • Students feel safe in this school

  • This school has safety procedures that work

  • This school is safe

Survey participation increased from the 2020–2021 school year. Additionally, results aligned to pre-COVID-19 results across all grade bands with modest improvement.
