CCSD Board of School Trustees meeting recap

Agenda Item 4.01 – Teacher Vacancy Update

The Clark County School District (CCSD) Board of School Trustees received a report on teacher vacancies for the upcoming 2022-23 school year. The report focuses on teacher recruitment and retention efforts as well as showing that, while the District is working to improve the teacher to student ratio, there are now additional teacher positions the district is working to fill.

The report also outlined data that shows vacancy rates vary by region. The District is working to address challenges to serve schools with the greatest need and provide smaller class sizes for all students.

To combat the issues, CCSD has increased the starting salary for teachers and is considering incentives for licensed staff at schools with the greatest need. Additionally, the District plans to work with the Nevada Department of Education on licensing requirements and license reciprocity with other states as well as exploring additional certification pathways.
