Agenda Item 4.07 – Public Hearing on and Possible Approval of American Indian/Alaska Native Policies and Procedures for Federal Impact Aid Section 7003, United States Department of Education
The Board approved the American Indian/Alaska Native Policies and Procedures for Federal Impact Aid Section 7003 application. The Federal Impact Aid Section 7003 requires districts to perform an annual review of their Indian Policies and Procedures (IPPs). Congress enacted the IPP requirements to ensure that Native American/Alaska Native students participate in the District’s general education program on an equal basis with other students, and that their parents and tribe have input, and the mechanism for providing input, into the District’s general educational program and activities (Elementary and Secondary Education Act Section 7003, as amended by Every Student Succeeds Act).
CCSD Policy 1311 states that the District recognizes its obligation to ensure the participation of American Indian/Alaska Native tribes and parents in the education process. Mechanisms for parental and tribal input are outlined and updated annually in CCSD’s American Indian/Alaska Native procedures document.
