Agenda item 5.03 – COVID-19 Update and an Overview of Reimagining Schools

The Clark County School District (CCSD) Board of School Trustees received a report on COVID-19 and an Overview of Reimagining Schools. The report showed approximately 83,000 students participated in 2021 Summer Programming, including Summer Acceleration, Extended School Year, Secondary Summer School and the Summer Bridge program.

The report also outlined the efforts underway as part of Reimagining Schools For the Future of Children.

Some highlights of the program include:

  • Approximately 20,000 employees participated in professional learning.

  • Grading reform

  • Career readiness

  • Differentiated Support to Schools

 

Additionally, trustees received information about COVID mitigation efforts including plans to add UV disinfection towers to all campuses. The towers kill 99.9 percent of pathogens, including human coronavirus.

Agenda item 5.04 – Employment Agreement – Assistant Superintendent, Curriculum and Instruction Division

Trustees approved the hiring of Charlene Hilliard as CCSD’s new Assistant Superintendent, Curriculum and Instruction Learning Division.

“I would like to welcome Ms. Hilliard to the Clark County School District,” said Superintendent Dr. Jesus F. Jara. “Her extensive experience in education as a principal at all levels will help our students as her new role will focus on ensuring all students have access to curriculum and instruction that provides them with a rich and rigorous education.”
