LAS VEGAS – Agenda Item 3.01 – Focus: 2024 Strategic Plan Update – Chronic Absenteeism

The Clark County School District (CCSD) Board of School Trustees received a presentation with an update on the District’s plan to address chronic absenteeism.

The presentation displayed the gradual progress of the District’s efforts to lower the overall rate. During the 2022-2023 school year the chronic absenteeism rate was 36 percent, showing a slight improvement from 2021-2022.

The presentation highlighted additional efforts to decrease the rate including:

Provide high-quality instruction and interventions for students through a Multi-Tiered System of Supports.

Use effective tools to monitor and guide student progress.

Improve consistency of implementation of CCSD Regulations 5113 and 5123.

The Board was presented with plans to launch the District’s Every Day Matters campaign to address chronic absenteeism in August 2023.

Agenda Item 4.05 – Public Hearing On and Possible Approval of the New Memorandum of Agreement between the Clark County School District and the Police Officers Association of the Clark County School District Regarding the Health Program for Qualified School Police Officers

The Board approved a Memorandum of Agreement between CCSD and the Police Officers Association of the Clark County School District (POA) regarding the 15 percent increase in contribution to the health program for school police officers.

The additional costs associated with the new Memorandum of Agreement is approximately $200,000.

Agenda Item 4.06 – Public Hearing On and Possible Approval of the New Memorandum of Agreement between the Clark County School District and the Police Administrators Association of the Clark County School District Police Department Regarding the Health Program for Qualified Police Administrators

Trustees approved a Memorandum of Agreement between CCSD and the Police Administrators Association of the Clark County School District Police Department (PAA) regarding the 15 percent increase in contribution to the health program for qualified police administrators.

The additional costs associated with the new Memorandum of Agreement is approximately $16,000.
