Agenda Item 3.01 – Evaluation of the Superintendent of Schools

The Clark County School District (CCSD) Board of School Trustees provided Superintendent Dr. Jesus F. Jara with a performance evaluation. The evaluation is largely based on the District’s five-year strategic plan Focus: 2024, which includes various priorities:

Priority 1: Student Success

  • Student academic performance

Priority 2: Teachers, Principals, Staff

  • Educator recruitment, support, and effectiveness

Priority 3: Coherent Governance and Leadership

  • Communication and Collaboration

Priority 4: Sound Fiscal Management

  • Financial and Operational Stability

Priority 5: Parent and Community Support

  • Perception of the District

“The job of leading the Clark County School District is one of the toughest in the nation and it is also one of the most important,” said Dr. Jara at tonight’s meeting. “Since my arrival 18 months ago, my team and I began working purposefully and with a sense of urgency to improve student achievement. While we still have an uphill road ahead of us, we have started to raise the bar of excellence for our children. I invite the public to review the evidence of the work that my team and I have accomplished by analyzing the data included in my evaluation. The information points to the great gains we have made and highlights the areas in which we will continue to work to make improvements.”
