Career and Technical Education (CTE) students from Southeast Career and Technical Academy (SECTA) and Green Valley High School recently visited K2 Design & Fabrications to explore career opportunities in construction, fabrication, digital design, marketing, and conference fixture design. During career exploration week, this visit allowed students to explore specialized construction programs offered by both schools, helping them envision their futures beyond high school.
“They showed us so many options, especially for those not necessarily focused on college but wanting to work.” said Alex, a student from Green Valley High School. “I’m interested in project management, and they even had a project management section, which was exciting since I didn’t know much about it.”
Green Valley High School teacher Mark Drakulich, expressed his hopes for the field trip’s impact on students: “I hope this experience opens their eyes to new possibilities and shows them what they could be a part of after high school.”
Career exploration opportunities like these connect students’ CTE studies to real-world careers, helping them set clear goals and stay motivated. Meeting industry professionals firsthand gives students insight into the skills and dedication needed to succeed in their chosen fields.
During Career Exploration Week, students from East Career and Technical Academy have been shadowing and assisting the CCSD Marketing Department to help promote these opportunities. ECTA student Lorena Perez contributed to this blog post.
