UNR Extension collaborated with the Clark County School District (CCSD) to offer students from Canarelli Middle School an immersive learning experience. This visit aimed to showcase the impactful work at UNR Extension and to inspire students to explore potential career opportunities.

During their visit, students engaged with professionals across various departments, including horticulture, youth and family health, nutrition, and business development. The hands-on activities allowed students to explore the extension’s stunning botanic garden, home to over 1,500 plant species. They learned how desert agriculture thrives through innovative care and science.

Students also had the unique opportunity to interact with extension staff, gaining insight into the diverse career opportunities available in community-based education. One student reflected on the experience, saying, “It’s pretty cool learning about what they do and seeing what it could look like in the future.”

This collaboration highlights the power of community-based education in preparing students for the future. By connecting classroom learning to real-world applications, programs like this inspire curiosity and provide invaluable exposure to career possibilities.

As UNR Extension continues to grow its programming, the hope is that more students will take advantage of these opportunities to learn, engage, and explore impactful careers. To learn more about UNR Extension, click here.
