The first day of school for all Clark County School District (CCSD) students is almost here and some younger students got a special welcome from their school staff.

A group of Lucile S. Bruner Elementary School administrators and teachers made stops at the homes of incoming kindergarten students. They gave the students gifts including school polo shirts, plush teddy bears and hugs.

The students and their parents loved the gesture, especially the stuffed bears.

“We want to build community with our parents and our families, and kindergarten can be scary,” said Bruner Elementary School Principal Melissa Ramirez. “So we just kind of wanted to remove any barriers or any scary feelings that come along with, number one for the parents, letting their kiddos go and just knowing they can trust us as a school.”

Principal Ramirez and her group visited more than 40 students in one day to get them excited for the school year.

The first day of the 2024-25 school year is Monday, August 12, 2024. For back-to-school information, click here.
