The Clark County School District (CCSD) encourages students and families to share their summer love of reading with our annual social media campaign, #ReadWithMeCCSD. CCSD recommends that students read for at least 30 minutes a day to continue building their literacy skills through the summer break. Students can choose to read a book, magazine, comic book, newspaper or listen to an audiobook. To participate, parents and students must post photos of their reading adventures using the hashtag #ReadWithMeCCSD. The Clark County School District (CCSD) is proud to highlight multiple speech and debate students from three schools who recently took home awards at the National Individual Events Tournament of Champions. Twelve CCSD students qualified for the national tournament, which was held in Bellevue, Nebraska, and four earned awards. CCSD hidden gem.  Those are just a few phrases used to describe Desert Oasis High School math teacher Jeff Comer in nominations submitted by colleagues for the Teacher Car Giveaway. Comer was selected as the winner and surprised with a brand new Kia Seltos Thursday morning courtesy of Jim Marsh Kia and Silver State Schools Credit Union. The Clark County School District (CCSD) celebrates National Police Week, May 12 – May 18, along with National Peace Officers’ Memorial Day, May 15.  The District thanks the men and women in law enforcement who dedicate their lives to keep our schools and communities safe. CCSD also pays special recognition to all law enforcement officers who lost their lives inthe line of duty including our very own, Clark County School District Police Department (CCSDPD) Officer Andrew Craft who passed away Jan. 10, 2024. Clark High School senior is one of only 161 students awarded nationally LAS VEGAS – Clark County School District (CCSD) student Samuel Chen of Ed W. Clark High School has been named a 2024 U.S. Presidential Scholar.  Chen is one of two Nevada students awarded this year. A total of 161 students were selected as 2024 Presidential Scholars. Children eligible for free meals LAS VEGAS – The Clark County School District (CCSD) announced it will again provide nutritious meals to all students through the Summer Food Service Program (SFSP). The summer school meal service will begin on May 21, 2024, at select locations. All CCSD schools with summer programs, including Extended School Year and Secondary Summer School, will offer free breakfast and lunch on days academic instruction occurs on-site. Clark County School District (CCSD) seniors Jolie Li and Toni Gaddy were awarded with 2024 Gates Scholarships. The students are two out of only 750 in the country to receive the prestigious scholarship. Li is a senior at Ed W. Clark High School and Gaddy is a senior at Del Sol Academy of the Performing Arts.  Both were selected for their outstanding academic record, leadership ability demonstrated through participation in activities including community service and personal success. Employees from Clark County School District’s (CCSD) Health Services and Risk Management departments were honored as the Southern Nevada Health District’s (SNHD) 2024 Public Health Heroes for playing a vital role in creating a healthier community.
