As one of the first female bank officers in the state of Nevada, Selma Bartlett was instrumental in the tremendous growth of Henderson for almost 60 years. Bartlett moved to Southern Nevada in February 1954 when her husband, Troy, was stationed at Nellis Air Force Base. 136 Clark County School District (CCSD) schools made improvements on their overall star ratings as part of the Nevada School Performance Framework (NSPF) released this week. NSPF is Nevada’s public-school rating system that classifies schools in a performance rating system from one to five stars, with five being the highest. Clark County School District (CCSD) Superintendent Jhone Ebert paid a surprise visit to Quannah McCall Elementary School on Monday, September 15, to celebrate the school’s two-star increase on the Nevada School Performance Framework (NSPF). McCall Elementary School is one of 19 CCSD schools to earn a two-star increase on the NSPF for the 2024-2025 school year. LAS VEGAS – Agenda Item 3.01 – Opening of 2025–2026 School Year The Clark County School District (CCSD) Board of School Trustees accepted a report discussing the opening of the 2025-2026 school year for CCSD. It touched on several areas of importance, including staffing, student and family communication, safety protocols and more.  The presentation highlighted several achievements: 98% of classrooms were filled with a licensed educator. Multiple Clark County School District (CCSD) schools paid tribute to those who tragically lost their lives 24 years ago on September 11, 2001. Eldorado High School hosted a remembrance ceremony for the victims of the 9/11 attacks, with the school’s Navy JROTC leading the event with a presentation of arms. Valley High School students paid tribute with a ceremony including a salute by the school’s Army JROTC as well as the school’s cheer squad. A ribbon-cutting was held at South Career and Technical Academy (SCTA) on Wednesday, September 3, to celebrate the opening of the new campus. SCTA is the Clark County School District’s (CCSD) newest high school, opening its doors for the 2025–2026 school year, and is CCSD’s ninth career and technical academy. Ali Jun of Tyrone Thompson Elementary School has been named 2026 Nevada State Teacher of the Year by the Nevada Department of Education. Jun is a long-time Clark County School District (CCSD) educator who has taught music at several CCSD schools during her career. The Clark County School District (CCSD) held the Bright Futures Walk, designed to rally the entire community in support of elementary, middle, and high school students who are not yet enrolled in school.
