Children eligible for free meals LAS VEGAS – The Clark County School District (CCSD) announced it will again provide nutritious meals to all students through the Summer Food Service Program (SFSP). The summer school meal service will begin on May 21, 2024, at select locations. All CCSD schools with summer programs, including Extended School Year and Secondary Summer School, will offer free breakfast and lunch on days academic instruction occurs on-site. Clark County School District (CCSD) seniors Jolie Li and Toni Gaddy were awarded with 2024 Gates Scholarships. The students are two out of only 750 in the country to receive the prestigious scholarship. Li is a senior at Ed W. Clark High School and Gaddy is a senior at Del Sol Academy of the Performing Arts.  Both were selected for their outstanding academic record, leadership ability demonstrated through participation in activities including community service and personal success. Employees from Clark County School District’s (CCSD) Health Services and Risk Management departments were honored as the Southern Nevada Health District’s (SNHD) 2024 Public Health Heroes for playing a vital role in creating a healthier community. The Clark County School District (CCSD) thanks its approximately 1,300 bus drivers for their tireless efforts to transport more than 123,000 students to and from school daily. On this School Bus Drivers Day, the District recognizes Suzie Fly for her 45 years of service as a CCSD bus driver. In 1979, Fly, then 27, was hired as a bus driver in Moapa Valley. In 2024, she remains behind the wheel as a special education bus driver in the rural community, and she has no plans to stop.…

Shawn is the first to say his freshman year was difficult because everything was online and everyone was isolated. It was especially difficult to enjoy music classes because he lacked confidence and was afraid of criticism. With online instruction, he missed getting to make friends, direct instruction from teachers, and performing with the orchestra. He was failing his classes. He thought when the lockdown lifted Las Vegas Academy of the Arts would run similar to online instruction. He was ready to give up and go to his zoned school. It only takes one word to sum up Aliya Ojuade: incredible. Aliya’s academic ambition, future plans, and warm personality make her an ideal Star Graduate. What stands out the most is not Aliya’s intelligence, but her compassion, curiosity and love for learning. She has taken the most rigorous courses at Rancho High School and has excelled in each one. Laughlin High School is pleased to announce that Juan A. Galvan Arreguin has been chosen as the 2024 Star Graduate. As a senior about to graduate, Juan is a member of the National Honor Society and Interact LHS Chapter. Throughout his high school experience, Juan effectively balanced his academic obligations with his dedication to becoming a four-sport athlete.
