Governor Joe Lombardo visited Lewis E. Rowe Elementary School on Thursday for a ceremonial signing of Assembly Bill 6 (AB6). The law, which will take effect on July 1, 2026, increases penalties for violations in school zones across the state, including all schools in the Clark County School District (CCSD). LAS VEGAS – Agenda Item 4.01 – Fiscal Year 2026 Amended Final Budget The Clark County School District (CCSD) Board of School Trustees approved the Fiscal Year 2026 Amended Final Budget. The District’s budget includes $3.9 billion in General and Special Education Fund revenues for the 2025-2026 school year.  Approximately 88 percent of CCSD expenditures go directly to employee salaries and benefits. LAS VEGAS – Agenda Item 5.02 – 2026-2027 School Start Times and Transportation Scenarios The Board heard a presentation on a survey seeking input from our community on the idea of shifting all school start times 30 minutes later in the day for the 2026-27 school year along with additional potential options for start times that would involve shifts in transportation. We are working diligently to place everyone in a suitable position while also adjusting our budgets to ensure fiscal responsibility. CCSD is exploring all options to identify positions for the affected 97 support professionals and 6 licensed personnel who were unable to be placed through the regular fall surplus process. The Clark County School District (CCSD) will receive $5.8 million over five years from Toyota to help provide access to innovative technology and benefit STEM programs at Red Rock Elementary School, Frank F. Garside Junior High School and Bonanza High School. LAS VEGAS – Agenda Item 3.11 – Purchasing Awards – College Board Advanced Placement Exam Fees The Clark County School District (CCSD) Board of School Trustees approved the purchase that covers exam fees for 2026 Advanced Placement (AP) exams for every CCSD student participating in AP courses, or approximately 30,000 students. The District saw a 23.7 percent increase in the number of students scoring a 3 or higher on AP exams year-over-year, leading to college course credit. The Clark County School District (CCSD) is saddened to hear of the passing of education pioneer and CCSD school namesake Selma Bartlett. As one of the first female bank officers in the state of Nevada, Selma Bartlett was instrumental in the tremendous growth of Henderson for almost 60 years. Bartlett moved to Southern Nevada in February 1954 when her husband, Troy, was stationed at Nellis Air Force Base.
