The Clark County School District Police Department (CCSDPD) has welcomed a new furry friend to their team.  CCSDPD Social Worker Monique Abarca and Eddie are embarking on a new journey to make students and staff feel more at ease during stressful situations.  Although Eddie is not the first canine to work alongside District officers, he is the first psychiatric support animal to be available to all regions of CCSD. He is a trained PTSD service animal who provides physical cues when he senses stress levels are high and can comfort the person in need. Alongside Abarca, he will be there…

Bonner Elementary School celebrated the 100th day of school in style! Kindergarten students walked the runway and showcased clothing made with one hundred items! Students got creative decorating their clothing with butterflies, fuzzballs and even Pokemon cards. Apart from the runway show, first graders took a glimpse into their futures and dressed up as 100-year-olds. 

CCSD kicked off the Super Bowl LVIII festivities with NFL partners and the Super Kids – Super Sharing project at Pearson Community Center. This community impact project puts books, sports equipment and school supplies into the hands of local children and schools. Donated items are shared with schools in participating districts and community programs that benefit local children.

LAS VEGAS – Agenda Item 3.01 – Focus: 2024 Strategic Plan Update – Highly Effective Staff The Clark County School District (CCSD) Board of School Trustees received a presentation regarding professional learning opportunities for staff. There has been an expansion in the districtwide pipeline for employee growth and advancement. During 2022-2023, 89 percent of teachers, 69 percent of learning strategists, and 98 percent of school-based administrators participated in professional learning. On-going collaboration with teachers, teacher leaders, learning strategists, and school-based administrators will occur to enhance professional learning opportunities. As part of Law Enforcement Appreciation Day, the Clark County School District (CCSD) recognized three members of the CCSD Police Department as exemplary employees. In a ceremony held at CCSPD headquarters, the CCSD Engagement Unit surprised Officer Jaclyn Carlsen, Officer Artesia Henry and School Police Social Worker Tonya Jones with a staycation courtesy of SAHARA Las Vegas.  Officer Carlsen was recognized for her efforts in coordinating “Operation Holiday Hope” which led to 500 toys and 64 teddy bears being delivered to children at University Medical Center and Sunrise Hospital. The Clark County School District (CCSD) Board of School Trustees added four new members during a special board meeting on Tuesday, January 2, 2024. During the ceremony, each newly appointed Trustee took the oath of office. As outlined in the Nevada Legislature’s Assembly Bill 175, the four appointed Trustees will serve four-year terms as non-voting members representing the local municipalities that appointed them.
