LAS VEGAS – The Clark County School District (CCSD) has launched a survey for the community starting today, September 26, as the District considers shifting all school start times by 30 minutes for the 2026–2027 school year. Parents/guardians, students and CCSD staff are encouraged to fill out the survey between now and 5 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 17. Raul P. Elizondo, Jr. was born in Mesa, Arizona on July 21, 1967. He was raised in Henderson, Nevada and attended Basic High School, where he was a member of the 1984 State Championship wrestling team. His mother, Ann, was a teacher at the Clark County School District. Officer Elizondo became a North Las Vegas police officer on March 13, 1992, and was recognized for his dedicated service within two years by the Chief of Police. Dr. Diaz was born in 1953 in California, where he stayed and pursued various educational titles.  He received a double degree in nursing and biology from California State University. Manuel J. Cortez, better known by family, friends, and associates throughout the Southern Nevada community as “Manny” was a man for whom the words “public service” had a deep resonance.  Mr. Cortez, originally from Las Cruces, New Mexico, moved to Las Vegas with his family in 1944, at the age of five. After graduating from Las Vegas High School and serving three years in the Army, he returned to Las Vegas to further his education at Nevada Southern University. Arturo B. Cambeiro was born on April 19, 1932, in Havana, Cuba, where he received a bachelor’s degree in science and architecture. When he was 29 years old, Mr. Cambeiro and his family immigrated to the United States. They did not have very much and did not know the language. The Cambeiro family lived in Miami and Los Angeles before landing in Las Vegas, where Mr. Cambeiro became Nevada’s first licensed Hispanic architect.
