The Clark County School District (CCSD) encourages students and families to share their summer love of reading with our annual social media campaign, #ReadWithMeCCSD. CCSD recommends that students read for at least 30 minutes a day to continue building their literacy skills through the summer break. Students can choose to read a book, magazine, comic book, newspaper or listen to an audiobook. To participate, parents and students must post photos of their reading adventures using the hashtag #ReadWithMeCCSD. The deadline for Summer School enrollment at Nevada Learning Academy (NVLA) has been extended by the Clark County School District (CCSD). Courses are open to middle and high school students interested in credit retrieval and/or acceleration. NVLA Summer School courses run from May 29 to July 17, 2025. All classes are conducted online 24/7 through a computer-based learning management program. NVLA Summer School course fees are $100 per half-credit for CCSD students. The Clark County School District (CCSD) will again provide nutritious meals to all students through the Summer Food Service Program (SFSP). The summer school meal service will begin at select locations on May 27, 2025. Select CCSD schools will offer free breakfast and lunch on days when academic instruction occurs on-site. Due to the Summer Food Service Program terms, all meals must be consumed on-site. Frank Kim’s legacy is marked as one of service. In 1929, Kim’s family moved from Bingham, Utah, to the desert community of Las Vegas. He overcame prejudice by displaying dignity to everyone he met. In 1943, he graduated from Las Vegas High School and shortly after enlisted in the United States Navy. After leaving the military service, he entered a career field that he knew would suit him well, the police force. He was dedicated to public service in his community and is remembered for his 30 years of service to the law enforcement agency for which he worked.

Mateo Flores is an exemplary student. He has earned recognition as an Advanced Placement (AP) Scholar with Distinction and has been honored as the Science Department’s Student of the Quarter. Mateo is an International Baccalaureate (IB) Certificate Candidate, taking on a rigorous course load of both IB and AP courses, many of which he completed online in addition to his eight courses on campus. Racheal Lee is recognized as Green Valley High School’s Star Graduate. A valedictorian candidate with a 4.95 GPA, Racheal is enrolled in a full schedule of International Baccalaureate and Advanced Placement courses, including Chemistry II, Psychology II, and Physics. She is taking all eight available courses during the school day—a rare feat, even among top students. Outside the classroom, Racheal is active in Math Club, Mu Alpha Theta, Science Olympiad (where she earned fourth place at the state level), and Robotics.
