The events coordinated by the CCSD Engagement Unit will be held from December 5 to December 20, 2024. Knudson Academy of the Arts is celebrating a monumental achievement: Mariachi Los Pumas, an award-winning Mariachi group, has been crowned the Middle School Mariachi Group National Champion at the 30th Annual Mariachi Extravaganza in San Antonio, Texas.   The Mariachi Extravaganza, recognized as the premier Mariachi festival in the United States, brings together the finest young Mariachi musicians in the country. Every year, CCSD celebrates Computer Science Education Week (CSEdWeek) which inspires students to learn computer science, advocate for equity and celebrate the contributions of students, teachers and partners to the field. This year’s theme is “Looking Back, Leaping Forward,” which invites students of all ages to dive into computer science.  During CSEdWeek, schools will be participating in the “Hour of Code” which is an introduction to computer science through fun activities.

Students at Advanced Technologies Academy earned the top prize in the Intuit Hour of Finance Challenge. The school was awarded a $100,000 prize for its efforts in the large school division.  The Hour of Finance Challenge is designed to introduce students to personal financial concepts in one hour or less by completing five activities including interactive Intuit for Education curriculum, online gameplay with Intuit Prosperity Quest, and more. The Clark County School District (CCSD) is partnering with Purposity to support students experiencing homelessness. Purposity is a non-profit connecting users with one-to-one needs in the community through an online platform.  Community members can directly support CCSD students experiencing homelessness by downloading the Purposity app. CCSD’s Title I Homeless Outreach Program for Education (HOPE) launched a profile that provides community members regular updates on ways they can support students through simple donations from their smartphones. There will be no school for students November 27-29, 2024, in observance of Thanksgiving and Family Day. Classes will resume on Monday, December 2, 2024. CCSD offices will be closed November 28-29, 2024.

The Clark County School District (CCSD) graduation rate for the Class of 2024 was 81.5 percent, with 21,736 students earning their diplomas.  “Thank you to our educators who remain committed to ensuring that our students are successful and prepared for life beyond graduation,” said CCSD Interim Superintendent Dr. Brenda Larsen-Mitchell. “This includes students’ access to rigorous coursework and implementing systems and supports to ensure our students are prepared to pursue their college and career goals. LAS VEGAS – Agenda Item 3.03 – Presentation of the Annual Independent Auditor’s Report for Fiscal Year Ending June 30, 2024 The CCSD Board of School Trustees and the Audit Advisory Committee held a joint meeting to discuss the audit of the District’s financial statements. The independent auditing firm, Eide Bailly, issued an unmodified opinion related to the financial statements of the District. LAS VEGAS – Clark County School District (CCSD) students are pursuing more college credit opportunities than ever by enrolling in Dual Enrollment and Advanced Placement (AP) courses. A report for the November 14, 2024, Board of School Trustees Meeting will provide data on the Dual Enrollment and AP courses.
