Can you imagine a large city, such as Las Vegas, completely running on clean and renewable energy? A group of students from Hyde Park Middle School have stepped up to the challenge. Campaign aimed at reducing chronic absenteeism  LAS VEGAS – The Clark County School District (CCSD) launched the Every Day Matters campaign to emphasize the importance of daily attendance in academic achievement and future success. “Chronic absenteeism is a life-changing choice that impacts the students in the highest need of educational resources and academic support,” said CCSD Superintendent Dr. Jesus F. The Clark County School District Police Department (CCSDPD) has welcomed a new furry friend to their team.  CCSDPD Social Worker Monique Abarca and Eddie are embarking on a new journey to make students and staff feel more at ease during stressful situations.  Although Eddie is not the first canine to work alongside District officers, he is the first psychiatric support animal to be available to all regions of CCSD. He is a trained PTSD service animal who provides physical cues when he senses stress levels are high and can comfort the person in need. Alongside Abarca, he will be there…

Bonner Elementary School celebrated the 100th day of school in style! Kindergarten students walked the runway and showcased clothing made with one hundred items! Students got creative decorating their clothing with butterflies, fuzzballs and even Pokemon cards. Apart from the runway show, first graders took a glimpse into their futures and dressed up as 100-year-olds. 

CCSD kicked off the Super Bowl LVIII festivities with NFL partners and the Super Kids – Super Sharing project at Pearson Community Center. This community impact project puts books, sports equipment and school supplies into the hands of local children and schools. Donated items are shared with schools in participating districts and community programs that benefit local children.

The Clark County School District (CCSD) Police Department (CCSDPD) joins our community and the state of Nevada to commemorate the life and service of Officer Andrew Craft, whose work and dedication have profoundly impacted young lives. “Officer Craft was a dedicated member of the CCSD Police Department who was committed to protecting students and employees throughout the community,” CCSD Police Chief Mike Blackeye said. “The entire department is here to support his family, and our officers are grateful for the community support over the past few days.” Officer Craft passed away after a medical episode while on duty on Wednesday,…

LAS VEGAS – Agenda Item 3.01 – Focus: 2024 Strategic Plan Update – Highly Effective Staff The Clark County School District (CCSD) Board of School Trustees received a presentation regarding professional learning opportunities for staff. There has been an expansion in the districtwide pipeline for employee growth and advancement. During 2022-2023, 89 percent of teachers, 69 percent of learning strategists, and 98 percent of school-based administrators participated in professional learning. On-going collaboration with teachers, teacher leaders, learning strategists, and school-based administrators will occur to enhance professional learning opportunities. As part of Law Enforcement Appreciation Day, the Clark County School District (CCSD) recognized three members of the CCSD Police Department as exemplary employees. In a ceremony held at CCSPD headquarters, the CCSD Engagement Unit surprised Officer Jaclyn Carlsen, Officer Artesia Henry and School Police Social Worker Tonya Jones with a staycation courtesy of SAHARA Las Vegas.  Officer Carlsen was recognized for her efforts in coordinating “Operation Holiday Hope” which led to 500 toys and 64 teddy bears being delivered to children at University Medical Center and Sunrise Hospital.
