Northwest Career and Technical Academy (NWCTA) celebrated the homecoming of one of their very own after winning the latest season of Hell’s Kitchen: Battle of the States.  Ellie Parker is a 2017 graduate of NWCTA, where she studied culinary arts and credits the school for igniting her culinary passion.  She made a visit to her former school to talk to NWCTA students about her journey in culinary arts and her career as the Executive Chef at Main St. Provisions. Clark County School District students will be celebrating Peace Week from January 19-24, starting on Martin Luther King, Jr. Day. Students will participate in activities throughout the week that empower them to create peace in their own lives and in the lives of others.  CCSD schools are encouraged to share their Peace Week activities on social media using #CCSDPeaceWeek!

The Clark County School District (CCSD) schools and offices will be closed on Monday, January 19, 2026, in observance of Martin Luther King, Jr. Day.  Classes will resume and offices will reopen on Tuesday, January 21, 2026.

Roberta C. Cartwright Elementary School received a $50,000 check on Friday from NextEra Energy Resources to help expand the hands-on Science, Technology, Research, Engineering, Arts and Math (STREAM) program at the school. The funds help the school provide Project Lead the Way (PLTW) curriculum for students, coding instruction as well as professional development for STEM teachers. The Clark County School District needs your help reconnecting chronically absent students with CCSD schools through the Bright Futures Community Walk.  The District is looking for volunteers to assist with two upcoming Bright Future walks on February 2, 2026, and February 3, 2026. Volunteers can expect a 2-3 hour commitment.  Volunteers will join CCSD staff in going door-to-door to provide resources and re-engage students with their schools.  For more information on how to sign up to become a volunteer, click here.
