Palo Verde High School recently held a sensory-friendly concert for middle school students zoned for the high school who are on the Autism spectrum or have sensory sensitivities. The big picture: Sensory-friendly concerts create a welcoming environment for all to enjoy live music. Sensory-friendly concerts seek to minimize sensory overload and create a more relaxed atmosphere than traditional concerts. Volume levels tend to be lower and the lighting might be softer. LAS VEGAS – Agenda Item 2.14 – Purchasing Awards The Clark County School District (CCSD) Board of School Trustees approved a bid award for Hazard, Young, Attea & Associates (HYA) for $79,000. The Board initially selected HYA as the search firm to recommend a slate of qualified candidates for a new superintendent during a May 29, 2024, meeting. Happy Flag Day! The Clark County School District celebrates the day that the U.S. adopted its first flag with 13 stars and 13 stripes in 1777. Today, the American flag is embroidered with 50 stars for each state and 13 stripes to honor the original colonies.

The Clark County School District is proud to announce that 20 students of the Class of 2024 have been selected as National Merit Scholarship Winners.  12 students were selected by the learning institutions they plan to attend from among the Finalists of the 2024 National Merit Scholarship Program. These students will receive between $500 and $2,000 annually for up to four years. In order to qualify, each student had to write an essay, have an outstanding academic record, be endorsed and recommended by a high school official, and earn qualifying SAT or ACT scores.  Congratulations to the students listed below:…

Veterans Tribute Career and Technical Academy students came upon what appeared to be a car crash, including an injured individual and multiple witnesses. The scenario, however, was part of the senior capstone project for the school’s programs to prepare students for public service careers. The event brought together students from the emergency medical services, law enforcement, 911 dispatch, and forensic science programs to see how specific skills are used in the field.
