Advanced Technologies Academy (A-TECH) teacher Richard Knoeppel, the 2019 Nevada Teacher of the Year, received national recognition for his commitment to educational excellence when it recently was announced he would be inducted into the National Teachers Hall of Fame. Knoeppel is one of five inductees into the 28th class of National Teachers Hall of Fame. The Clark County School District Board of School Trustees received an update on the District’s budget by Chief Financial Officer Jason Goudie for fiscal year 2019. The amended final budget has an estimated ending fund balance of $45.8 million. CCSD still anticipates an unassigned ending fund balance of 1.75 percent. The National Association for College Admission Counseling (NACAC) and the Western Association for College Admission Counseling (WACAC) invite students and parents to explore the college search process at the Las Vegas National College Fair, scheduled for April 3 from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. in the Cox Pavilion at UNLV. Students and parents can meet one-on-one with admission representatives from a wide range of colleges and universities, and the armed forces. Jennifer French is one of 20 elementary and middle school principals from across the nation who has been selected by Crayola and the National Association of Elementary School Principals (NAESP) to receive a “Champion Creatively Alive Children” school grant. French is principal of Eva Wolfe Elementary School. Crayola and NAESP together selected 20 schools to receive the grants, which will fund innovative programs aimed at building creative capacity school-wide. The Clark County School District is hiring for a number of vacant positions. To help prospective applicants, members of the Human Resources Division will go out into the community this month to meet with those who may be interested in working for the District. “The Future Is CCSD” hiring fairs will be held on four different days at four different locations around the Las Vegas valley. A decade after the release of the National Standards for Quality Online Programs, the standards, along with the National Standards for Online Teaching, were updated to provide online K-12 schools, districts and programs with a new foundation for building quality online learning experiences. Over 100 individuals with expertise in either K-12 online learning research or practice contributed to the revision, representing a variety of state and regional online learning programs as well as universities and researchers, including Nevada Learning Academy Principal Andrea Connolly.
