In this edition of Community Connection, School Board President Evelyn Garcia Morales offers her thoughts on why a CCSD middle school in North Las Vegas is on the cusp of a transformation.

As the president of the Clark County School District Board of Trustees, proudly serving District C, I’m thrilled about a game-changing development for our community.

  • Carroll M. Johnston Middle School will be transformed into a STEM Magnet School because of a multimillion-dollar U.S. Department of Education grant, making it the first choice opportunity for families and students in North Las Vegas!

Why it matters: This exciting news promises a wealth of opportunities for our students and their families. Our vision is clear: to propel our students toward brighter futures by expanding choices for families through program availability.

With this grant, more students can choose to attend college, encouraging them to explore the vast world of science, or open new doors to various career and technical education fields.

  • The impact will be profound for our students and their families attending Johnston Middle School, and we can’t wait to see the positive outcomes this will bring to our community.
