The Clark County School District is saddened to hear of the passing of former educator, community leader, and CCSD namesake Betsy Rhodes.
Ms. Rhodes was a fierce advocate for CCSD students. In 1977, she was the organizing chairman of the Assistance League’s Operation School Bell, which provided CCSD students in need with resources, which in turn boosted school attendance, academic performance, and students’ overall well-being.
For over forty years, she served as a community leader devoted to education and philanthropic advances. Just to name a few, she left her mark on the Service League, Junior League of Las Vegas, Operation School Bell, and much more.
Betsy A. Rhodes Elementary School was named in honor of her dedication to CCSD students and opened its doors in 1998.
