The Clark County School District celebrated the first day of school on Monday, August 11! It was an amazing day full of excitement as we welcomed our students back into the classroom. See below for some back-to-school highlights!

Arville Bus Yard 

The excitement started off early in the morning at the Arville Transportation Yard, where Superintendent Ebert greeted Transportation Department staff before they began their routes for the first day of school! Fun fact: the CCSD buses transport approximately 120,000 students every day, and service more than 1,500 routes and 31,000 stops!

South Career and Technical Academy

The South Career and Technical Academy opened its doors to students for the first time! This brand new school will offer workforce and career readiness programs such as Advanced Manufacturing Technologies, Cyber Defense and Advanced Computing Technology, Early Childhood Education, as well as Entertainment and Sports Marketing!

Wendell P. Williams Elementary School 

Students at Wendell P. Williams Elementary received the red carpet treatment as they walked into the first day of classes! CCSD Board of School Trustees Clerk Tameka Henry, Superintendent Ebert, and Williams Elementary School staff welcomed the students as their day began.

Mission High School

CCSD Trustee Brenda Zamora and Superintendent Ebert took a tour of Mission High School, where they had the opportunity to speak with staff, current and former students. 

Mission High School is the first of its kind publicly funded school in the nation that focuses on supporting students who are recovering from substance abuse addiction.

Harriet A. Treem Elementary School 

Treem Elementary School has a new Pre-K program! It is one of 33 elementary schools that have added Nevada Ready! Programs for the 2025-2026 school year as Superintendent Ebert’s priority to expand Pre-K opportunities. CCSD Trustee Members Linda P. Cavazos and Ramona Esparza-Stoffregan and Superintendent Ebert had the opportunity to interact with a few pre-k students and their teachers!

Victoria Fertitta Middle School 

CCSD Trustees Members Lorena Biassotti and Lisa Satory joined Superintendent Ebert in touring Feritta Middle School math classes as they have seen improvement in student math proficiency in recent years!

Clifford J. Lawrence Junior High School 

CCSD Trustees Members Lorena Biassotti and Lisa Satory along with Superintendent Ebert spoke to Lawrence Junior High School staff about their new Safari Scholar Program. This new initiative offers students the opportunity to build skills for professional environments and helps build students’ tangible skills for employment.

Brian and Teri Cram Middle School 

The last stop of the day was at Cram Middle School, where a discussion was held about cybersecurity education initiatives for students across the District. Students were greeted by Firewall the Dragon, CCSD’s Technology and Information Systems Services Division (TISS) new mascot! CCSD Board of School Trustees Member Lydia Dominguez joined Superintendent Ebert on this visit.
